Ignite Sport UK has been shortlisted for SME of the Year at the Thames Valley Business Awards evening next week.

A celebration of the inspirational individuals, charities and businesses, the ceremony recognises the best achievements across the region and this year marks its fourth birthday.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be held virtually on Thursday, April 29, from 7pm.

We have been shortlisted for our innovation and creativity in delivering professional training, education and coaching throughout the pandemic.

Thirteen awards will be handed out during the event which is expected to attract over 600 people from the business community. Guests will be sent a celebration box with drinks and treats to enjoy at home while taking part in the virtual event.

Justin Merritt, Ignite Sport UK Director, said our nomination is testament to the hard work of the team.

“The pandemic has presented my colleagues with tremendous challenges,” said Justin. “This nomination recognises the commitment and dedication of our team who have adapted quickly to alternative methods of programme and education delivery while adhering to strict COVID-19 guidelines.

“It is our vision to inspire people through the power of sport, activity and wellbeing. The determined attitude my colleagues has ensured we have continued to fulfil our vision in the last 12 months.”

In addition to the awards ceremony, the evening will also feature an inspirational keynote speaker and live music. Each winner will also receive a business package from sponsors worth £3,000.

Other awards to be decided on the night are: Business of the Year, Male, Female and Young Entrepreneur of the Year, New Start Up of the Year, Employer and Apprentice of the Year, COVID Community Champion, Charity of the Year, Outstanding Contribution to the Community, Lifetime of Achievement and a Leisure and Tourism Award.

Mr Merritt added: “There’s no doubt the pandemic will continue to shape our way of life moving forward.

“But this is a chance to celebrate the positives of the last year, and we’d like to wish everyone the very best of luck for the evening and look forward to celebrating the best of business in the Thames Valley.”
