Ignite Sport > News and Blogs > Junior & Youth Football at OCFC - End of Season Update

Dear players and parents,

It has been a very enjoyable and fulfilling season for our Oxford City FC Youth Teams, and both on and off the pitch we have seen a huge development in the environment and culture of our great club. There have been some very rewarding highlights for us as a football club this season, which is a testament to the hard work and commitment of everyone involved behind the scenes, and to everyone who is out on the grass every week representing Oxford City FC regionally and nationwide. Some of the highlights include:

  • The start of the season saw us create five new teams, which boosted participation levels across the club to great heights and saw our youth section expand to 26 teams for the 2021/22 season.
  • We have seen a record number of players on our Development Centres where we welcome footballers across all age groups to participate in regular football activity every week. Which is of course free for our own Oxford City FC players!
  • Record numbers on our Football Camps during half-terms and school holidays.
  • The introduction of the 360 Player App to assist with the management of all of our teams and help develop our coaches and players.
  • The development of video analysis within our youth teams through our VEO Cameras.
  • League and cup successes of our Community teams, including Oxfordshire FA County Cups, Oxfordshire Youth League & Cup Champions and Oxfordshire Girls Football League & Cup Champions.
  • League and cup successes of our JPL teams, including Regional League Champions and National Cup Champions.
  • Big successes with family themed match days and activites on the pitch after our mens first team games.
  • And most importantly, the enjoyment and development of over 400 young people in Oxfordshire who represent our club on a weekly basis.

Our Mens First Team got the furthest ever in club history and although the journey is now over it without a doubt was made all the more positive with our junior & youth players and families cheering along and supporting, thank you!  Record breaking crowds and a real community feel throughout the club have put us in a position to make the pathways from U6 to the first teams even more exciting!  Our 16+ Full Time Football Sixth Form Programme, Velocity has seen some real highs too.  Second year, Niko, was selected to represent England School Boys and Summer Major and Ewan Clarke made appearances within our womens and mens first teams.

We look forward to a break, but also a time to keep pushing and developing new ideas that will enhance the experience for our players, coaches and parents when they are associated with Oxford City FC. Thank you all for your continued support and commitment, we hope you have a fantastic summer and we look forward to seeing you all at the End of Season Awards Day (June 12th)

In recent months we have seen significant increases to our operating costs.  Our prices have remained unchanged for three seasons and we have added many additional training and activity opportunities for players.  Having undertaken some local comparison market research we are confident that our new pricing structure is still majorly good value and competitive.

For those who feel payments will be difficult, we are proud to be in a position to offer a number of bursary schemes, fully funded by us at Ignite Sport as part of our ethos of 23 years where we aim to make sport accessible for all.  To apply for a bursary you will need to complete an application form (email finance@ignitesportuk.com to request) and will need to sumbit proof of benefits related income by July 15th.
